1 lakh CCTV cameras to be installed across Hyderabad

City Police Commissioner, M Mahender Reddy, recently inaugurated the Community CCTV Project taken up by the citizens of Ward Number 8 of Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) under Bolarum police station limits. Speaking at the event, the commissioner said each camera functions as the equivalent of 100 police officers during investigation of cases and also increases the productivity of the police. He added that it has been the biggest community project taken up by the citizens in Hyderabad.

“The target of the department is to install one lakh CCTV cameras in city to bring every inch of the city under electronic surveillance. Very soon, Hyderabad will be transformed into a safe city as dreamt by the State government,” the commissioner expressed confidence. He appreciated the initiative of the SCB Chief Executive Officer Sujatha Gupta and asked her to create awareness among the citizens of other wards to install CCTV Cameras in their respected communities.
