CEO ASIS International and US chief security officers visit Bengaluru

Mr.Peter J. O’Neil, FASAE, CAE, CEO ASIS International led a high-powered US Chief Security Officers’ (CSO) delegation to Bangalore from 03rd – 5th Dec 2017. The CSOs of major American companies such as iJet, Target, American Eagle Outfitters, Fidelity Investments, with business interests in India, were part of the delegation. The ASIS Bengaluru Chapter hosted their visit. The visit commenced with an informal interaction of ASIS members and office bearers with the delegation at JW Marriott Hotel.

On the 4th of Dec 17, the ASIS Bangalore Chapter organized a round table discussion on South Asia and India Risk Analysis. The present and emerging security challenges, global business perception and concerns of security scenario in India, various crime statistics, case studies and projections were shared between the visiting CSOs, Chapter leadership and invited security professionals. Representatives from Mitkat and India Bound presented their analyses of various threats, vulnerabilities and risk scenarios. The discussions concluded with India retaining its credibility as a safe business destination despite regular reporting of Indian security incidents in the US media. CEO ASIS International thereafter gave his vision for the organization and efforts undertaken to make it more dynamic and proactive. Ashish Nangia CPP CFE CBCP, Chapter Chairperson hosted the event and the lunch for the attendees at Intuit.

The second half of the day saw a joint ASIS- OSAC meet hosted by Accenture. It saw a large gathering of Bangalore security professionals. Peter was the keynote speaker and commenced the session with his energetic discourse on his vision of the security profession and how security needs to be a recognized profession with globally security certifications. Bruce Mcindoe, founder iJET, thereafter enlightened the audience on likely Global Risk situation. He concluded with his reading of the security situation for 2018 keeping in view international relations and planned global events.

Mark Krause CPP, CSO, Target hosted the delegation and selected security professionals on Dec 5th at their Bangalore facility. Cybercrime situation in India, Aadhaar(UIDAI) and its ramifications, and skill development for digital India of the future were issues discussed at the facility. The delegation and the invited guests also visited the Target Regional Operations Center before been seen off by Aditya Gurtoo CPP CFE Secretary ASIS Bengaluru Chapter.
