Godrej eyes home and baby care shops to sell WiFi security camera products

Godrej Security Systems (GSS) will partner with shops selling baby care products and home care start-ups to push its new range of Wi-Fi-enabled home security camera products.
The company is in talks with players in both segments and expects things to fall in place in the next few months. GSS launched Wi-Fi-enabled home camera EVE series and SEE THRU PRO Video Door Phone in mid-October in Mumbai, Kerala and Gujarat.

Launching the product in Chennai, Mehernosh Pithawalla, Vice-President and Global Head – Marketing, Sales & Innovation, said the idea of partnering with baby shops and home care segment is to resonate with the Indian population that considers security gadgets as unnecessary for everyday life. For instance, many non-resident Indians, young parents and couples often have to leave the elderly parents or young kids alone at home due to work. Using EVE, which streams live what happens into your smart phone, they can monitor them.

“Since we are projecting it for home use, prices are kept in the range of ₹5,000 to ₹9,000, which any smartphone user can afford,” he added. But to take this to a wider audience, the company is looking at strengthening different distribution channels. It is in talks with modern retail stores. “This would be our major revenue channel for this product,” Pithawalla added. The product is available in hardware stores and Godrej showrooms across India. Pithawalla said: “The products should be available in retail stores in a week’s time.” The company registered a turnover of ₹820 crore last year and expects to end March 2018 with ₹900 crore, with ₹280 crore from home safe segment, where it has 80 per cent market share
