NEXT Biometrics partners with M-Tech on biometric cards for India

NEXT Biometrics has announced it is partnering with M-Tech Innovations to develop and deploy biometric card solutions for India. M-Tech is an accredited and certified RuPay, MasterCard and VISA card manufacturer and one of the largest smart card producers in India. The collaboration will feature NEXT’s sensor technology and will focus on contact-based and dual interface biometric smart card solutions to address current and evolving banking card standards.

NEXT began expanding its operations in India last August to support the company’s increased activity in the country. NEXT’s team in India is led by Crossmatch, Safran Morpho and Gemalto veteran Ameya Bhagwat, and also includes Sanjith Sundaram, who spent five years with the Unique Identification Authority of India.

In its January 2019 Business Update the company noted that its strategic priorities for 2019 include a central focus on producing biometric payment cards
