In a sample survey of about 50 people, 18 of them did not know about the existence of fire safety norms, which should be something that comes from people and not from a top to bottom approach, said Srinivas Prasad, founder member, Cyberabad Security Council.
“At the end of the day, the employees on a campus should be responsible enough (to know about fire safety),” said Mr. Prasad while delivering the keynote address at the India Fire and Security Yatra 2016 conducted by the Fire and Security Association of India. He stated that creating an electronic corridor will help to create deterrence regarding both fire safety and security.
Stating that India is a ‘reactive’ country, Mr. Prasad said that we can learn from incidents that have taken place in the past to improve fire safety and security in a city. He added that compared to the last seven years there have been some steps forward in terms of security in the Hi-tech city area. “We were the first to have a Women’s Security Council,” he recalled.
Mr. Prasad also said that the Cyberabad police was always cooperative in helping the Cyberabad Security Council, which had initially helped the cops by installing some of the security measures in the Hi-tech city IT corridor. He added that a number of new CCTVs will soon be installed in the area as part of the ongoing measures to improve safety. Narayan Bhosekar, FSAI President, Hyderabad Chapter, and other dignitaries graced the occasion.
