BMW now tells you when the traffic lights ahead change

German carmaker BMW has developed a new software to help you avoid running through a red light if you are driving a ‘connected vehicle’. The automaker now offers in-car support for Connected Signals’ EnLighten app for iOS that predicts when lights will change based on position and speed. Many-a-times those who drive tend to miscalculate the time when the traffic signal ahead would change and end up crossing it in high velocity, adding to the risk of accidents or tickets.

With the new software, your car’s infotainment display will tell you whether or not you should hit the brakes, Engadget notes. The feature is also useful when you have stopped as it uses your turn signals to show when a necessary light will return to green.
