G4S wins £17m contract to secure Kuwait airport

G4S Plc has been awarded a new 2 year contract by the Kuwait Ministry of Interior (‘MoI’) to provide enhanced security to Kuwait International Airport. The £17 million contract will see G4S Risk Consulting provide audit, review and training assets to the MoI, whilst G4S Kuwait will recruit, train and deploy up to 400 security officers to meet new US and UK government security standards. Kuwait International Airport currently has the capacity to handle 8-9 million passengers a year and the forthcoming construction of a new terminal is expected to increase that capacity to 13 million in its first phase.

Charlie Burbridge, Managing Director of G4S Risk Consulting, said: “I am delighted that we will be working with the Kuwait Ministry of Interior on helping to secure a vital regional transport hub in Kuwait International Airport, and thereby supporting the economic success of the country.”
