ASIS Bengaluru Chapter #295 Meets to Network and Learn

On 23rd of March 2018, the Bengaluru Chapter of ASIS International organized a meeting for all security professionals in the city and affiliated areas. The meet was hosted by Amazon and coordinated by Maj. Paul Devassy CPP, Sr. Program Manager SLP & Loss Prevention, Amazon, and ARVP of ASIS International. The meet was also telecast live via video conferencing to benefit ASIS members and other security professionals across the country who could not physically attend it.

The meet commenced with the opening address by Mr. Warren Gladstone, Chapter Chairperson, during this session he gave to the audience, that comprised senior security professionals the Chapter’s planned overview for the year ahead, the meetings scheduled on the  ASIS  and OSAC shared platforms.  This was followed by a presentation on ASIS Board Certifications by Lt. Col.  Aditya Gurtoo, CPP, CFE, ICPS the Chapter’s Vice Chairperson. The Chapter’s schedule for Certified Protection Professional (CPP) review classes was shared with the audience. Almost all the security professionals welcomed this advance notice and were looking forward to attending the review program.

Mr. Sudheer Anandath, CPP, CISM, CEH – the Senior Manager Security & Loss Prevention at Amazon welcomed the security professional to the Amazon facility. He and his team gave a detailed run down of their work schedule with data analytics and other methodologies being adopted to secure a customer’s package. An introduction to Corporate Security across locations in India was by given by Col Arun Nair, CPP, CCTP of Amazon India. The learning experience of the loss prevention techniques and its future in e commerce was of very insightful.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), to be effective from May 18 was covered by Devinder Singh CPP CFE, the Chapter’s Treasurer. He explained the various facets of the upcoming regulation, its consequence and actions to be initiated by users to be compliant. A quiz for the audience with questions drawn from the Protection of Assets Manual followed and the winners were felicitated by the Amazon Security Team.  Maj Sandeep Kumar, CPP, Global Security Manager, India of Pinkerton – the Chapter’s Secretary, thanked the attendees for their participation and invited them for a networking session over high tea.
