Fire safety audit to be held every fortnight at Odisha COVID facilities

The Directorate of Fire Services, Odisha, has ordered a fire safety audit in all Covid facilities once every fortnight.

Director-General of Police (Fire Services, Home Guards and Civil Defence) Satyajit Mohanty issued a circular to all range fire officers to comply with the order. The decisions were taken in the wake of a fire accident at Sadguru Covid Hospital in Jagatpur, Cuttack.

A 15-point checklist, featuring a to-do list or precautions to avoid fire mishaps, has been issued to the Covid facilities, which include Covid hospitals, Covid care centres and isolation centres. In his order, Mohanty also asked the Covid facilities to designate some of their staff as an emergency response officer for each shift. The checklist highlights the precautions, involving the condition of the fire extinguishers and other major installations.
