HC tells Maharashtra to comply with order for CCTV in police stations

The Bombay High Court has asked Maharashtra government to file a compliance report on its earlier order directing it to install close circuit television cameras (CCTV) covering every nook and corner of all police stations so as to bring the entire place under surveillance. The court had last month ordered the state to install CCTVs at police stations against the backdrop of custodial deaths in Maharashtra which accounted for the highest number of such cases in the country.
