Proposal on CCTV cameras in city to be ready soon: Delhi Govt.

Delhi PWD Minister Satyendar Jain has said that the government would come out with a proposal soon to install CCTV cameras across the national capital with the aim of ensuring women’s safety. A senior official said that the government was ready to fund the project and it has a list of areas where CCTV cameras would be installed.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also asked the PWD to expedite the installation of CCTV cameras and light up the “dark spots” across the capital in order to ensure women’s safety. “We have started preparing a proposal on the installation of CCTV cameras across the national capital. It will take us one month to prepare the proposal,” Jain said.

On the security front, the PWD has been asked by the government to bring a proposal at the earliest to put up CCTV cameras all over the city delinking it from the Wi-Fi project. “The PWD has been asked to identify all dark spots in Delhi, as soon as possible, and also identify spots where streetlights are not present and places where they are installed but are not working,” an official statement said.
