UP Police security wing gets ISO certification as it upgrades

With a massive modernisation drive and building up new infrastructure to equip its officials with best training to get ready for any challenges in the coming days, the Security Wing of the Uttar Pradesh Police added one more feather to its cap by getting ISO 9001:2015 certification.

This is the second department of UP police after Dial-112 to get this certification.
Giving this information here on Tuesday afternoon, ADG (Security) Binod Kumar Singh claimed that the security department had formulated a quality policy to provide security to dignitaries and vital installations and to improve the performance of its personnel through rigorous training.

Briefing about the measures taken so far, Singh said that they made an overall uplift of the security headquarters buildings which included a new classroom and a dining hall. Besides, he said, they also designed various security courses, new aviation security courses (to meet the demand of massive expansion of airports in UP), a new firing simulator for enhancement of firing skills amongst the personnel, just like the National Security Guard (NSG) commandos have in Manesar, training of drivers for the first time at ITDR (Institute of Driving and Traffic Research) in Dehradun etc.

He claimed that to meet the growing challenge in future, they were also going to acquire a new fleet of 35 bulletproof vehicles costing about Rs 35 crore, besides creating 10 new bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) as the existing 26 squads faced difficulties in meeting out the demands especially as many more vital installations had comes during the last few years.

He also said that a new residential-cum-training campus of the security department was coming up in Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow.
