Chinese companies allowed to hire private security guards in Pakistan

Punjab government in Pakistan has allowed the Chinese companies working on various projects to hire private security guards for their personal security after receiving ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) from the Home Department. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif held a meeting pertaining to security arrangements for the Chinese citizens working in various projects of the province.

The bureaucracy briefed the CM about security threats and alerts being issued by sensitive agencies and the prevailing security arrangements for the Chinese working in Punjab. The meeting after having detailed discussion and briefing termed security arrangements for the Chinese unsatisfactory. The matter of hiring various private companies by the management of different Chinese projects also came under discussion.

Following recommendations from the senior civil and Police officers, the Chief Minister gave approval to the management of Chinese Companies for hiring the services of only those private security companies which are enjoying good reputation. The CM also made it mandatory for the Chinese to get NOC from the Home Department before hiring the private security company. The Home department will only give NOC to the private security companies having good reputation. The copy of the meeting minutes has also been sent to the Chinese Counsel General in Pakistan.
