What Makes a Strong Article?

The most successful articles are those that:

  • Educate and inform readers.
  • Share practical experience and real-world lessons.
  • Address current challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
  • Offer actionable insights, solutions, or recommendations.
  • Present objective analysis supported by facts, data, or case examples.
  • Contribute meaningfully to professional learning and industry dialogue.

Application stories and case studies should provide sufficient operational and technical detail to help readers understand the problem, solution, implementation process, outcomes, and key takeaways.

Content We Generally Do Not Publish

SECURITY TODAY is an independent editorial platform and not a product catalogue.

We generally do not publish articles that primarily promote a specific company, product, brand, or service. Such content may be better suited to our advertising, sponsored content, partner content, or advertorial opportunities.

References to products, technologies, or solutions may be included where relevant to the subject being discussed, but the article should remain educational, informative, and vendor-neutral in tone.

Submissions that are overtly promotional, sales-oriented, or lacking substantive editorial value are unlikely to be accepted.

Recommended Article Length

While quality and relevance are more important than word count, the following ranges serve as useful guidelines:

  • Opinion & Commentary Articles: 800–1,200 words
  • Feature Articles: 1,200–2,000 words
  • Technical Articles: 1,000–2,000 words
  • Case Studies & Application Stories: 800–1,200 words
  • Research-Based Articles: 1,500–3,000 words

Longer submissions may be considered where the subject warrants more detailed treatment. They may also eventually get published in two parts, over two editions.

Submission Requirements

Please submit the following:

  • Article in Microsoft Word format
  • Relevant photographs, diagrams, charts, illustrations, or supporting images (where available)
  • A recent high-resolution headshot photograph
  • A brief author biography (50–75 words)
  • Your organisation name, designation, and contact details

Submissions may be emailed to: info@1stasset.org

Publication Rights: By submitting an article, you grant SECURITY TODAY the right to publish and promote the content across its print and digital platforms, including the magazine, website, newsletters, blogs, social media channels, and special publications, with appropriate author attribution. Content may be edited or adapted to suit different publication formats.

Editorial Review Process

All submissions are reviewed by the SECURITY TODAY editorial team.

Acceptance for publication is based on relevance, originality, editorial quality, accuracy, and value to our readership.

SECURITY TODAY reserves the right to edit, revise, shorten, retitle, format, or otherwise modify submitted content to improve clarity, readability, consistency, and alignment with editorial standards. Publication decisions remain solely at the discretion of the editor.

While we endeavour to respond to contributors in a timely manner, submission does not guarantee publication.

Originality, Copyright and Permissions

By submitting content, you confirm that:

  • The article is your original work.
  • You have the authority to submit the material for publication.
  • The content does not infringe any copyright, trademark, confidentiality, or intellectual property rights.
  • Any third-party material, images, charts, or data included in the submission have been properly authorised and attributed.

We strongly prefer exclusive content that has not been previously published elsewhere.

If the article has appeared online, in print, or on another platform, please clearly disclose where and when it was published. Previously published content may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Authors may use AI-powered tools to assist with research, drafting, editing, or language refinement. However:

  • Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the submitted content.
  • Any factual claims, statistics, quotations, or references generated with AI tools must be independently verified.
  • Content must reflect the author’s own expertise, analysis, and professional judgement.
  • SECURITY TODAY reserves the right to reject content that appears to be entirely AI-generated, inaccurate, misleading, or lacking original insight.

Where AI tools have been used substantially in preparing the article, contributors are encouraged to disclose such use at the time of submission.

Author Recognition

Published contributors benefit from professional visibility among SECURITY TODAY’s extensive readership of security and safety professionals, business leaders, policymakers, consultants, and technology decision-makers.

Contributors may also be invited to participate in future editorial initiatives, expert panels, webinars, conferences, and industry discussions organised by SECURITY TODAY.
