The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) got new chiefs on Tuesday (September 30, 2025) with senior IPS officers Praveer Ranjan and Praveen Kumar taking charge of the paramilitary forces.
Mr. Ranjan, a 1993 batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, assumed charge as Director General, CISF following the superannuation of R.S. Bhatti. He was serving as Special DG, CISF and heading the sensitive Airport Security division prior to his appointment.
Praveen Kumar, a 1993 batch IPS officer from the West Bengal cadre, took charge as Director General, ITBP after Rahul Rasgotra retired from service. The ITBP is the primary border guarding force deployed along the India-China frontier.
Before his appointment, Mr. Kumar was serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. Over a 32-year career, he has held several important assignments both in his West Bengal cadre and the Intelligence Bureau.
