Canon launches two new Full HD remote PTZ cameras

Canon has announced the launch of the XU-81 and XU-81W – a duo of Full HD remote pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras designed to capture high quality video in a range of indoor and outdoor settings. Succeeding the existing XU-80 and XU-80W, both models offer high quality weatherproof performance, combining remote pan-tilt functionality with an upgraded imaging sensor, which offers outstanding operational versatility and superior quality ideal for applications such as broadcast TV production, recording of events and security, traffic or disaster monitoring.

The XU-81 and XU-81W are equipped with an enhanced specification to provide higher levels of performance. Each system features a robust, cast metal body that houses a new 1/3″ 2.1 megapixel Canon CMOS sensor and a powerful 20x optical zoom lens with precise Auto Focus (AF), delivering outstanding Full HD video in all situations.

The XU-81 and XU-81W’s advanced Canon imaging system provides versatility alongside first class image quality. A 20x optical zoom in each system provides the power to capture HD images with reduced chromatic aberrations at a variety of focal lengths. The high quality, Canon-developed CMOS sensor, also enables consistently accurate colour reproduction and dynamic range, as well as high sensitivity that enables shooting in lighting conditions as low as 0.6 lux.

Designed to offer extensive creative flexibility, both cameras support upright and inverted ceiling mounting, with the picture image automatically flipped when the camera tilt angle reaches 90º in either position. The XU-81 also features an integrated servo ND filter that adjusts the amount of light that enters the lens in strong sunlight. Sturdy, water-resistant and dustproof IP55 rated housing ensures they can be installed in harsh, environmentally challenging situations, with the ability to withstand conditions including rain and wind with no additional protection. An integrated handle also enables convenient single-handed carrying, providing added versatility.
