G4S agrees to global deal with Huawei

G4S has confirmed the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei Technologies, which gives G4S preferred supplier status for security services for the next five years in all of the markets in which both companies operate. G4S currently provides manned security and total facilities management for Huawei in Tanzania, Namibia, Egypt, Guatemala, UAE, Angola and DR Congo.

This agreement expands the scope of co-operation between the two companies so that G4S will provide – when certain commercial conditions are met – security services in all 41 countries around the globe where both companies operate, which includes operations in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia.

The agreement is part of G4S’s expanding pipeline of work with China-based technology, construction and oil & gas companies which are investing across the world. G4S already provides Security Services, (including Manned Security and Electronic Security Services), Cash Solutions, Risk Consulting and Facilities Management services to a number of Chinese firms investing overseas, including in UAE, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Argentina, Ecuador, Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Saudi Arabia, as well as in more than ten African countries.

Announcing the agreement, G4S regional president for Asia Pacific Jon Corner said: “The breadth and scale of Huawei’s operations and development ambitions in both developed and emerging markets mean that they need a premium quality security partner that has the global reach, capability and infrastructure to protect their assets and their people wherever they are in the world. With our footprint in over 100 countries we’re uniquely placed to deliver that. We’re very proud to be Huawei’s security provider of choice and we look forward to building a comprehensive and long-term strategic partnership for worldwide business which helps Huawei advance their aim to create a more connected world.”
