Gujarat Police gets Harley-Davidsons

The Gujarat Police recently welcomed a few upmarket additions to its fleet of vehicles, which will leave other state police forces envious. The additions are Harley-Davidson bikes, Street 750 and SuperLow to be precise. The Harleys will be employed in VIP convoys during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit-2015, which will be held at Gandhinagar in January, 2015. Once the summit is over, the bikes along with other vehicles will be sent off to various police departments in the state.

The Street 750 is Harley-Davidson’s cheapest offering in India with a price tag of Rs. 4.1 lakh, while the SuperLow is priced at Rs. 5.71 lakh (prices: ex-showroom, Delhi). Harley-Davidson bikes are used by police departments across the globe, with India being the latest to add its name to the list. Though Gujarat Police is now the first Indian state police to get the Harleys, the exact number of the bikes purchased remains unknown
