Gujarat CM asks universities to have CCTV for safety of girls in departments

Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel has laid emphasis on electronic eye surveillance for all examinations including practical and viva examinations apart from having CCTVs at written examinations. The CM also asked the VCs to form a high level committee to bring about a change in the education and examination system.

Chief Minister Patel recently held a meeting with the Vice Chancellors of all the universities in the state to bring about a change in the education system. Patel during the meeting asked the Vice Chancellors to have CCTV cameras in all the halls and departments where the girls have to sit with their professors alone for studies or for guidance. The CM also asked the VCs to record each and every examination be the practical or viva examinations which are conducted by the Universities.

Also the meeting decided that the Vice Chancellors of the University will have to compulsorily go on a surprise visit to each college be it self-financed or government or grant-in-aid college. The VC will have to prepare a report of the staff strength and the number of students in each college. The CM emphasized the need to go online for admission to all faculties and even use modern technology for the examinations.
