Navi Mumbai Police issue code of practice for CCTV use

The Navi Mumbai police led by IPS officer K L Prasad recently promulgated a code of practice for CCTV surveillance by public and private establishments. The first code of its kind anywhere, it is voluntary. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation already has a CCTV surveillance system in places under its jurisdiction, while the City and Industrial Development Corporation is installing a network in its areas.

Several public and private establishments, cooperative housing societies and factories also have CCTV, but it was found that there was no collaborative framework for sharing crucial video feeds from these establishments.
