Now, use your face as an identity at Delhi’s IGI Airport and save up to 25 minutes

Passengers who travel from Delhi can now avail DigiYatra services — which allows faster and seamless travel at the airport — by linking their boarding passes with their face during travel.

Launched at Terminal-3 of the IGI Airport, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said the initiative would allow passengers to use DigiYatra platform without downloading the mobile application and to travel using their face as their identity inside the airport.

There will be a one-minute registration process for the service as a part of which passengers would need to scan their boarding passes and their face and produce an identification proof to the security personnel stationed near the registration desk. After a successful registration, passengers will be able to travel seamlessly inside the terminal, security check area and at the boarding gates.

DIAL said the passenger-first initiative had been undertaken by DIAL based on demands from passengers seeking further simplification of the process for the usage of DigiYatra.
The initiative does not require passengers to download anything on their mobile phones and has been especially curated to provide a better travel experience to those less familiar with technology, DIAL stated.

CEO-DIAL, Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said, “We have been relentlessly working towards improving passenger experience at Delhi Airport. This latest initiative will allow even those who are less familiar with technology to make full use of DigiYatra and travel seamlessly. DigiYatra is a faster, safer and smoother way of travel, which aims to allow passengers to spend more time with their family and friends at the airport.”

DigiYatra is a digital platform for air travellers in India which seeks to make the process of air travel more convenient and efficient by using facial recognition technology.
The initiative ensures faster mobility of passengers to boarding gates, hassle -free travel, enhanced security and dedicated gates while being completely contactless, saving around 15-25 minutes of passengers’ time.

At present, DigiYatra facilities have been extended to all departure gates of Terminal 3 and Terminal 2 of the IGI Airport. To use DigiYatra, passengers are required to download the DigiYatra Application on their mobile cell phones and register using their Aadhaar-linked Mobile number.

Once registered, users are asked to link their credentials using DigiLocker or offline Aadhaar. Post linking of the Aadhaar, users are prompted to take a selfie and upload it to the application. For the final step, users are asked to update their boarding passes on the DigiYatra app and share it with the airport
