Private security guards banned from wearing khaki in Manipur

The Manipur Police department has issued a notification to private security personnel and band parties, asking them to refrain from use of uniform, akin to the police, which may cause security concerns.

The notification further warned of initiating necessary legal action against violators.
The statement informed that private security staff and band party members were found to be wearing dresses similar to police uniform i.e the khaki of the civil police and olive green and camouflage of the Manipur Rifles (MR), India Reserve Battalion (IRB) and Commandos (CDOs) on numerous occasions.

Signed by state director general of police (DGP), P Doungel, the notification read, “This has caused security concerns and also confusion to the public and police personnel on duty.”
On May 5, the police headquarters had directed the senior superintendents of police concerned not to permit private security personnel to wear dresses similar to that of the police uniform.
