Tender floated for IP-CCTV installation in South Goa

The Goa government has floated a tender for the supply and installation of Internet protocol surveillance cameras with centralised storage and viewing system, in Curchorem-Cacora and Ponda. The tender floated by the Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd (ITG) states that the Office of the Collector and District Magistrate, South Goa intends to install IP surveillance camera systems for the purpose of traffic management and security surveillance under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme, at the strategic locations in South Goa with centralised storage and viewing system at the respective police stations.

The work under the tender includes supply, installation and commissioning of the CCTV and surveillance systems at strategic locations in Curchorem-Cacora as well as Ponda Municipal Council areas.

The supply, installation and commissioning of the entire surveillance system needs to be completed within 90 days from the day of the receipt of the order. The supplier will also have to provide comprehensive warranty and maintenance of the CCTV and surveillance System – entire setup –during the warranty period of one year.

The tender is a part of the project undertaken by the government to provide safety and security for its citizens and their assets. “With increased security and terrorism threats in the country, building a comprehensive surveillance system is critical for enhancing safety and security of citizens and assets,” a government official stated, adding that the project envisages government departments introducing common framework for surveillance systems in the state.

The project envisages implementation of a state-wide comprehensive surveillance system to facilitate 24×7 scanning and monitoring of vehicular traffic, human movement etc. The project would also ensure setting up of unmanned surveillance cameras throughout the state at all the major roads and junctions, public places and places of strategic importance. The data will be stored, monitored and analysed at the centralised control room which will be set up for the project. The project shall be under the aegis of the department of information technology, in close coordination and support from the police department under home department
