Chandigarh UT to have database of pvt security guards

The Deputy Commissioner’s office of the UT Administration in Chandigarh will have complete database of all private security men deputed at various places in the city on a real- time basis as it has launched an online portal for all the security agencies.

With the new initiative, all the private security agencies will have to provide complete information on the portal. The agencies will also get the permission online.
Amit Talwar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, said they were considering to integrate private security guards with the disaster management cell of the Administration. The security guards are trained persons and their services could be utilised during an emergency situation.

Talwar said the objective of this exercise was to create and prepare a database of the private security workforce in Chandigarh which would be of great help to the Administration.Talwar said under the present system, the security agencies were providing information every three months. Sources said that approximately 100 security agencies were working in the city, which have been providing security guards to banks, offices and other institutions. Major RS Gujral, one of the owners of the security agency, said this was a step in the right direction. He said this would make their work easy.
