Chhattisgarh to set up security training centre for youth

Chattisgarh plans to set up a security training centre for youths that would be managed and operated by a national-level private security training agency. A state government spokesperson said the training centre would be on the lines of similar centres in West Bengal and Jharkhand. The initiative forms part of the state’s focus on skill development of the youths.

Chief Minister Raman Singh held a high level meeting with the officials on the issue and instructed the officials of the department concerned to prepare a work plan for setting up a private security training centre. Like other states, Chhattisgarh plans to set up the centre in some 50 acres of land preferably in Naya Raipur—the upcoming new capital of the state.

The state government would invite offers from reputed companies working at the national level. Singh said there was a lot of scope for the youths in private security work that need to be explored. The move of the state government to skill the youths in private security work is linked with the anticipated industrial growth in the mineral-rich state. With rich reserves of coal and iron-ore, the state is set to see further investment in power and steel sector. The private facilities coming up in the state would require the security personnel that could be hired from within the state.
