CM launches the Gujarat Fire Safety COP E-Portal, advancing ‘Ease Of Living’ for citizens

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the urban development department of the Gujarat government has initiated the Gujarat Fire Safety COP e-portal, aiming to strengthen and enhance transparency in fire safety services.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel launched the portal during the “Liveable Cities of Tomorrow” conference, which was organised by the urban development department in conjunction with the pre-Vibrant Gujarat summit.

The “Ease of Living” initiative aims to provide people with details regarding fire safety amenities in various structures, including high-risk buildings, multi-story complexes, hospitals, hotels, shopping malls, schools, and colleges. The objective of the portal is to ensure that the public is well-acquainted with the fire safety provisions in these establishments.

CM Shri Bhupendra Patel, utilising public engagement, led the development of the e-portal. The process involved seeking objections and suggestions on the draft fire regulations, and subsequent scrutiny by a high-level technical committee resulted in government approval of the regulations with necessary amendments.

To improve fire safety measures and streamline the acquisition and renewal of fire safety certificates, a user-friendly software system has been created, encompassing a mobile app that serves the entire state.

Beginning from the design phase of any construction, the approval procedure engages three-tiered local fire and emergency service authorities. This ensures compliance with various standards at different stages of design, construction, and utilisation before the building is considered operational. The entire process has been simplified through the Fire Safety Compliance Portal website, available at https://gujfiresafetycop.in, as well as a mobile app.

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, the introduction of this portal has led to the consolidation of all information about the processing of fire safety certificates for various types of buildings across the state. Real-time tracking is now accessible with a single click.

Applicants can easily check the status of their applications, and the prescribed fee standard will now be the same statewide. Additionally, the option to make online payments through UPI or cards is also provided.

The Gujarat government has successfully trained over 225 private professionals as Fire Safety Officers (FSO). These FSOs are equipped to conduct mock fire drills, awareness campaigns, and biannual inspections of fire safety equipment for building owners via the online portal. This initiative is poised to expedite the renewal certificate issuance process, enhance accuracy, and increase transparency.
