Dehra Dun Police to coordinate with private guards for night security in residential areas

In order to ensure more security in the colonies, especially in areas where it is difficult for police patrolling units to conduct thorough security checks, Dehra Dun police is planning to hire private security through independent agencies. It is proposed that these private guards will get their pay from the residential colonies but will work to support the patrolling unit.

Dehra Dun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Mohan Joshi said that the picket checking in the city is at its best during the night time, but it is difficult for the patrolling units to cover such a vast area at all times.

According to the information provided by the local police, the idea for hiring is still in the planning stage. The colonies which are more likely to be targeted will be among the first with whom the district police will coordinate.

If the residents agree to the plan regarding hiring a private security guard and for paying his salary from their own pockets then the plan will be carried forward. If not, the district police will continue to do their work and likely find another way to lower the chances of any night time burglaries.
