Dubai police employ smart helmet technology to detect coronavirus

Adopting various ways and means to detect the ongoing coronavirus cases, the Dubai department of transportation has resorted to smart helmet contoured with an infra-red camera and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as face recognition and car number reading technology.

The department of transportation security at Dubai police was hailed with praises from the Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security, Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim for adopting smart technologies such as the smart helmet and securing the transportation sector. UAE is said to be the first nation in the region to use this technology.

Director of Transportation Security department, Dubai Police, Brigadier General Obaid Al Hathboor said that the smart helmet can detect the temperature of the passengers from a distance and the accuracy level is high. The additional features such as the face recognition and car number reading technology give added advantage. The step had been taken in accordance with the administration’s resolution to secure public transport in order to contain the rapid spread of coronavirus
